I really wanted to like this mat, as it was described as non-toxic. When it arrived it had a very strong smell that I hoped would subside with airing. Unfortunately, after two weeks the mat still smelled (although not as much) and I've decided to return it. I bought instead an eco-friendly jute mat (Hugger Mugger, but Gaiam makes them too), which turned out to be a very good choice.

Manduka eKO 71-Inch 5mm Eco-Friendly Yoga Mat Review

I got this mat for Christmas and use it at LEAST 2 times per week. I just began teaching Yoga and decided it was time to give up my other Eco-friendly mat made by Gaiam- which is TERRIBLE, by the way. This mat is great for the serious Yoga student. It is super durable and doesn't flake off even with vigorous practice. I practice and teach Asthanga and Vinyasa and my mat still looks like i just got it. The mat doesn't have that icky slippery film over it like most other mats, and you don't have to break it in. Another positive aspect of this mat is that when rolled out, the mat lays totally flat, and the edges never curl under. The mat NEVER slips on the floor. If you drip sweat onto the mat, it does get a little slippery, but i just wipe it with my towel.
The only downside to this mat is that its VERY heavy and smells strange, like cookies- its odd, I know, I cant describe exactly what the smell is, but it goes away in a few weeks.

Yoga Paws: Mini Yoga Mats for Your Hands and Feet Review

I love these things! They're very comfortable and so much more convenient and easier to store than a mat. Best if you practice on carpet at home. Super for travel. I wish I'd known about these when I started with yoga; I'd have gotten them before I got a mat. Cons - (1) Not great for full body on floor asanas. (2) Foot "paws" slip a little, but I've seen something similar with back elastics to hold them in place, and I don't like the look of them.

The Manduka mat is as good as everyone says it is; much sturdier and provides more support than a sticky mat; sort of like the difference between really good running shoes and spongy flip flops.The bag is good and this was a good deal on it.I wouldn't have paid full price to buy the bag separately.I did have problems with the bag's lining getting caught in the zipper initially and had to pull out my sewing kit.I probably could have returned it, but it was an easy one-time fix.All in all, satisfied.

Manduka Large Mat Sak Review

This is a good bag as it's well ventilated and large enough for my 71-inch BlackMatPro.I like that it's made of canvas and easily washable (it smelled when I got it new).

One big flaw for the high price: The metal links of the strap dig into the shoulder and HURT!It has a strap pad but if you're carrying the bag vertically up and down your back, the position is so that the metal clasp is right on the meat of your shoulder.It's tolerable for walking from the car to the studio, but if your trekking from home, you may need to cover it with foam or something.

This is one of the most expensive bags available, so for ~$50 I'd say it's okay; I haven't found one any better.

Manduka Black Mat Pro Yoga Package, Graphite, 85 Inch Mat Review

Padding: 5 stars. The mat is thick and provides an excellent amount of cushioning. You should never need to fold it.

Traction: 1 star. The mat provides excellent traction... until you start to sweat. I've read elsewhere that this is supposed to improve as the mat is broken in, but how long is that supposed to take? I've tried accelerating the break-in through washing and scrubbing (as recommended in the included instructions), but I haven't observed even the slightest improvement in traction while wet over the weeks that I've been using the mat. Just how long am I expected to slip and slide through my workouts?

I currently work around the traction issue by placing towels where I set my hands and feet. The towels still shift and bunch up, though, which forces me to stop and reset them numerous times over the course of a workout. Maybe wearing socks and gloves would work better, but I'm not thrilled with the idea.

Gaiam Travel Yoga Mat Review

I bought this mat in hopes that it would inspire me to do yoga during business travel by protecting me from yukky hotel carpets. It worked! The mat is very thin, so don't expect cushion for your knees, but as most hotel rooms are carpeted, I don't feel that this is a problem. My biggest concern was whether it would fold up small enough to fit in my bag. I like to pack very light. It is perfect. It folds up to about the size and shape of a couple of t-shirts or a pair of jeans. It was so wonderful to stretch away the 10 hour flight when I finally got to my hotel. I was a little concerned about slipping on the soft towel-like surface, but my hands and feet stay put. I highly recommend this mat!

Bought this to do pilates on my hardwoods. Really the perfect amount of cushion & does not move with rolling exercises. Great for spine and hipbones. Natural Fitness Powerhouse Mat Review

I purchased several products from Natural Fitness during a recent exercise bender and have been really happy with them.The powerhouse mat is soft, durable and surprisingly "sticky" for a yoga mat (which is a good thing, by the way).Slightly longer than a standard mat, the powerhouse allows me the extra space I need to practice more complicated variations, like the Ganda-Berundasana position which I've been working on for years.

SuperMat Treadmill Mat Review

I actually ordered a more expensive treadmill mat and Amazon sent this one instead.I considered keeping this mat and opened the box to check it out.I can definitely say that it's going back.The material is really thin.There's also a disclaimer in the box that this mat only has a one year warranty, which doesn't cover tears, rips, or punctures.The material is so thin that I wouldn't be surprised if placing my treadmill on it will puncture it immediately.I obviously can't give an adequate review because I'm sending it back for the original mat that I ordered, but I just wanted to give my initial impressions of the mat.Double check to make sure Amazon sends you the correct product!I've read other reviews where customers have received the incorrect treadmill mat from Amazon.I hope it's accidental, but they should have corrected the problem by now.

Supermats 3'x6.5' Treadmat Review

I have tried many different equipment mats and have always been disappointed. Mats like this offer very little protection for your equipment or floor. These mats rip very easily.

A much better alternative is a 4' x 6' x 3/4" thick rubber mat that you can buy from a farm supply store such as Blain's Farm and Fleet or Tractor Supply Co. I can't take credit for this idea. I discovered this when searching the web for a durable mat. This was suggested by many bodybuilders on the bodybuilding dot com website/forum. These rubber mats are called "Horse Stall Mats" or "Cow Stall Mats". These mats are made to last for years of abuse from cows and horses stomping, urinating, and other shtuff. Therefore, they will certainly hold up to exercise equipment, dumbbells/weights being dropped, and human sweat without a problem. I purchased two of these Cow Stall Mats from Farm and Fleet for $39 each.

UPDATE: January 22, 2010 - We have been using our two cow stall mats for almost 3 years.I have an elliptical machine, an iron master "superbench", and dumbbell set on these mats.Both mats still look like brand new.I moved several months ago.The floor underneath the mats did not show any signs of damage or wear. I was not surprised.

I could see some people being turned off by the name "cow stall" or "horse stall" mats.You really have to see them to appreciate them. When in the home with exercise equipment on top of them they look like professional exercise equipment mats. If you have a dedicated exercise room, these would be ideal to cover the entire floor. That's my plan when the basement gets finished.

Only con I can think of is mine smelled like rubber/new tires for several months. It went away on its own. Must not have been too bad though because my wife didn't complain (and she would have if it was that bad).

it's a great price for a yoga mat.It was softer than I had expected.the material feels a lot like the nova-foam mattress topper or like my tempurpedic bed. because of that, I'm not sure that it's significantly better than a mat of typical thickness.Also, I emailed the company with my color choices, but all 4 of my mats came in black anyway. Didn't even get a response to my email. They make no guarantees about color, so not much i could do.(I bet all they ever have is black!)Still, a good price!

Supermats 4'x6' 1/2" Ultimat Review

Great flooring system for a home weightlifting gym. It's heavy and very dense, very similar if not the same type of stuff you see in most commercial gym's. Heavy duty, takes dropped dumbbell punishment, and resists damage/cuts. Use a drywall T-Square as a guide, and put a new blade in a box cutter. Take several passes to cut it and take your time. It cuts straight and square for a professional look. I will definitely buy these again when I get a bigger room for the gym.

Black Exercise Equipment Floor Mat 3' x 6.5' x 7 mm thick Review

I LOVE THIS MAT!!!IT IS PVC rubber and worth every penny.I may buy another.There is NO RUBBER SMELL - which is very important for people with sensitivities to that.I'll have mine for years...feels thick and tough like a tire tread...has a nice grainy texture on top/smooth on the bottem.Won't go wrong ordering one - or two!
